Pursuant to the South Carolina Eminent Domain Procedure Act, Section 28-2-70(c), Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, as amended, notice is hereby given that entry by personnel of the South Carolina Department of Transportation will be made in the area of the roads described below for such purposes as topographic surveys, subsurface exploration, environmental related studies and for the gathering of any other data necessary for the planning, design, property acquisition, and construction of a interstate rehabilitation, bridge jacking and bridge replacement project.
The interstate rehabilitation project extends along Interstate 26 from near mile marker 89 to near mile marker 101 in the east bound lanes only. All of the bridge jackings or replacements are over I-26 at the following locations: Approximately 2.0 miles north of the Town of Chapin on S-49 (Peak Street); approximately 2.0 miles northeast of the Town of Chapin on S-48 (Columbia Avenue); approximately 2.0 miles northwest of White Rock on S-405 (Old Hilton Road); approximately 2.0 miles west of White Rock on S-234 (Mt. Vernon Church Road); approximately 15.0 miles northwest of the City of Columbia on US 176 (Broad River Road). Improvements will consist of removing and replacing the existing pavement along I-26 eastbound, shoulder and median earthwork, raising or replacing bridges to provide adequate vertical clearance over the interstate and any necessary bridge approach work. It is anticipated that additional right-of-way will be required to implement the bridge jackings/replacements only. No additional right-of-way is anticipated for the I-26 mainline work.

Shaw is conducting an ongoing series of environmental activities under the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act, a federal law enacted in 1980 to require the investigation and cleanup of legacy sites throughout the country. These initiatives are also accomplished within the guidelines of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976.
The meeting is of Shaw's Restoration Advisory Board. The board provides a forum through which local communities, installations and regulatory agencies can work together in an atmosphere that encourages discussion and exchange of information on current and future environmental cleanup programs here.
The purposes of this meeting are to allow the community the opportunity to view detailed information about ongoing Shaw's environmental cleanup activities and to discuss specific questions and answers with the Shaw Environmental Restoration Team on a one-on-one basis.

Upon award of Contract, the Architectural Firm will supervise construction of project, payments and acceptance of the project.
The Contractor to whom this work is awarded will be required to furnish an approved Performance Bond and a Labor & Material Payment Bond in the amount equal to 100% of the Contract.
This contract is expected to be funded in whole or in part using funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Section 1605 of the ARRA prohibits the
use of these funds unless all iron, steel, and manufactured goods are produced in the United States. All iron and steel manufacturing processes must take place in the United States, except for metallurgical processes involving refinement of steel additives. There is no requirement for the origin of components and subcomponents of manufactured goods. Products listed at 48 CFR 25.104 (a) have been determined to be unavailable in the United States and if required for the project may be purchased from foreign sources. No unauthorized use of foreign iron, steel, and/or manufactured goods will be allowed on this project.

Separate sealed bids for PROJECT HERCULES - DIVISION 2A: Sage Mill Parkway Widening & Extension will be received by Aiken County in the County Administrator's Office, Room 200, 828 Richland Avenue W., Aiken, SC 29801 until 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 9, 2012 and then at said place be publicly opened and read aloud.
The work to be done consists of furnishing all materials, equipment and labor necessary to widen approximately 3,385 linear feet of existing 24 feet wide asphalt roadway to 43 feet and construct approximately 865 linear feet of a new 43 feet wide asphalt roadway extension ending in a gravel cul-de-sac; all covering a total of approximately 10 acres including, but not limited to, all traffic control, demolition, clearing and grubbing, earthwork, silt fencing, erosion control, storm drainage, paving, pavement marking and signage, and grassing.

Bidders must deposit security with all bids. Security shall be in the form of a certified check or bid bond made payable to the Owner, and shall be for an amount equal to not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid. Provisions of the security shall be as described in the Information for Bidders.
No bid will be considered unless the bidder is legally qualified under the provisions of the
South Carolina Contractor's Licensing Law (South Carolina Code of Laws as amended on April 1, 1999, Chapter 11, Sections 40-11-10 through 40-11-428).
Contractors shall have a classification of HI5, AP5, and GD5. No bidder may withdraw the bid within 90 days after the actual date of the opening and thereof. The Owner reserves the right to waive any informalities or to reject any or all bids.
